When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone with the courage, honesty, sense of selflessness & the desire to fight on behalf of those who cannot fight for themselves.
An illustrious warrior on the side of goodness & rightness
A person admired for their achievements and noble qualities
When I think of a hero I envision a special breed of person or people willing to sacrifice in terms of their time & efforts to right a wrong or a series of injustices.
When I think about what a hero is...I think about all of the volunteers at the ASPCA, The Petfinder.com Foundation, The American Humane Society, those kind, considerate individuals involved in Animal Rescue & the warriors fighting in the court systems on behalf of domesticated animals to live their life without being subjected to mistreatment, cruelty or, any of the other horrible circumstances which everyday, somewhere in the US, is happening.

The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization—backed by 11 million Americans, or one in every 28. Established in 1954, The HSUS seeks a humane and sustainable world for all animals—a world that will also benefit people. We are America's mainstream force against cruelty, exploitation and neglect, as well as the most trusted voice extolling the human-animal bond

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at the Fund for Animals' renowned animal sanctuaries, pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, and other worthy animal care facilities supported by the GreaterGood.org foundation. 100% of sponsor advertising fees goes to our charitable partners.
Petfinder is made up of animal-care professionals and regular people volunteering for their local animal welfare organizations all working together to maintain active and accurate homeless pet lists. Most animal welfare volunteers have "real jobs" by day. The success and the magnitude of this project is largely due to their tireless efforts to make a difference.
The Petfinder.com Foundation changes lives. They affect not only the four-footed animals waiting to be adopted, but also the people who care for them by providing equipment and funds so that thousands of homeless pets have healthier and happier lives and thousands of shelter and rescue folks can do their jobs better.
